Travel about 2000 kilometres east from Tierra del Fuego, at the very tip of South America, and you might stumble on its precipitous and windswept shores. At 54 degrees S and 37 degrees W, South Georgia is about as remote as any place on earth could possibly be.
If you ever decide to visit Antarctica, don’t be surprised to hear weird noises – it’s just some chunks of ice you’re sailing into. And you should know it’s OK to cruise through channels full of icebergs: it’s all worth eventually, when you’re greeted by penguins, seals and whales. Sounds matchless and fun! Good luck with your trip back home.
