Mauritius and Reunion - Two Interesting Islands
Submitted by kiwi on 2006-12-29 02:30:20 (via www.cristytrembly.com)
Mauritius: the Pamplemousse Gardens with huge ponds with mushroomy-type flowers and lily pads in the water - a striking and a very beautiful place. Chamerel, a desert-like place where the sands separate by colors. Reunion, the beaches are nice and clean, the food is great, the people are pretty friendly, especially if you speak French!!   More...

Things You Don't See Often
Submitted by cleo on 2006-12-29 01:47:17 (via www.indiaoverland.biz)
A very strange announcement on the local radio: "Greek Cypriots lay down your arms or Turkish MIG jets will bomb Nicosia". You would think somebody is pulling a joke. Aha! Not the case. Suddenly, there was a tremendous noise as a jet fighter roared overhead only 100 meters above the ground… Are you scared yet? Still an awsome place to visit.   More...

The Great Namche Pizza Conspiracy
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2006-12-28 01:43:55 (via photosbymartin.com)
Climbing Everest is not an easy task. Not many will resist the altitude and the rice and vegetable menu. So, you start dreaming about something else… maybe a pizza. Yes, a pizza! But then comes the dilema: which pizza is better???

You can’t tell the difference unless you discover the conspiracy behind it… I think this last part was made up;o).   More...

The Temples or Luxor and Karnak
Submitted by kiwi on 2006-12-28 01:33:38 (via www.edwebproject.org)
Never thought something like this exist: a construction of true grandeur with an astonishing colonnade and dozens of sphinx and heads of kinds lining the streets. But how it can go about without some adventure at the airport or on the bus - an incident like this will forever change the psyche of a border guy (smile). This happens.:)

New York City
Submitted by cleo on 2006-12-27 04:28:33 (via www.sauntering.com)
Click USA from the list, then New York City and read about the strangest, and perhaps most magical thing about New York, then there is the Guggenheim museum, that now looks like a giant toilet bowl, then the ethnic pockets scattered throughout: China Town, Little Korea, Little Italy and all of West Side Story live here. It was fun to read.

Rafting the Zambezi River
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2006-12-27 04:13:46 (via photosbymartin.com)
Whoah! This is an incredible experience, absolutely blockbusting!!! I held my breath as I read. Rafting on the Stairway to Heaven... I don’t know why they called it so, but I have a strong suspicion it is where you may end, if not too skilled or lucky ;o{ Another thing is the Victoria Falls - spectacular! Read it, you’ll like it.   More...

Iran
Submitted by Adele on 2006-12-22 03:36:57 (via karstenfilsoe.dk)
“How are you? Do you speak English?” I thought this is a great article in describing what it would be like to go on a trip to Iran. It gives you a good idea of what is there, the hospitality of people, places to visit, troubles to expect, do’s and don’ts, places to stay, transportation, etc.

Storms in Kazarman
Submitted by Amber on 2006-12-22 03:13:35 (via www.tandemtoturkestan.com)
Climbing on a tandem bicycle to the top of a mountain, spending a night in the storm and then descending. You’ve got to have the gut to do that. But the sight, it says, was worth it. Note one unforgettable moment: stumbling on the way upon the Kyrgyz version of polo game, where puck is replaced by a gruesome carcass calf…?

India Rats
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2006-12-22 01:46:42 (via dougs-travels.com)
What is worse: a rat or its fleas? I didn’t know rats have fleas that bite people. But they are all part of India’s ecolife;o) Read this story. It’s funny, but don’t let it spoil your desire to visit India. This kind of stuff can be avoided. I think;|

Things you MUST do in Belgium
Submitted by roxy on 2006-12-21 01:35:27 (via www.theworldly.org)
Great piece you should’t miss, even if you’re not going to Belgium soon. As the title suggests, it talks about things you MUST do in this country: taste the handmade chocolate and the waffles, visit the Grand’Place, meet the peeing boy, and get a piece of Belgian lace. Now you can say you’ve been there. But first, you MUST read this article.   More...
