Monasteries and villages where time has stood still

A trip by jeep from monastery to monastery in the mountains of Tibet, at an altitude of 5,000-8,000 meters. The guesthouses may be primitive, but the majestic landscape is more than worth any lack of creature comforts.   More...

The first steps towards the Tibetan settlements really give us the feeling of coming back home, how not to believe in incarnation? Seven Days in Tibet
Submitted by Amber on 2006-12-15 01:34:17 (via photosbymartin.com)
This is a wonderful account on a trip around the Tibet Plateau amidst “interesting” companions in search for a place to go p.. and other hilarious moments and troubles on the road. Absolutely gorgeous Potala Palace, the old monasteries, however, outnumbered by the nightclubs and the fiercely religious people is a thing I can’t be sarcastic about.:|
