Women-only tours! What a great invention! A chance to immerse oneself in various aspects of a culture: “shopping at the local markets, speaking with local children and paying attention to the color of the local stone and flowers." A chance that allows mothers and daughters to get beyond their roles in the family and discover "a whole new person."

t was once (and perhaps still is) thought that women travelling alone, even within Europe was a complete no-no. Owing to the unregulated conditions, the cramped hostels and the comparably small numbers of fellow female travellers on the move, women were wary of solo travel.
